Baby Got Bach

The interactive concert series Baby Got Bach, hailed as "magical" and a "wonderful carnival of musical exploration," was founded by the concert pianist Orli Shaham in 2010. As Artistic Director, Ms. Shaham draws on both her background as an internationally renowned musician and her experience as the mother of young children. Baby Got Bach's interactive concerts introduce pre-school age children to musical instruments, musical concepts and the experience of concert-going. The shows feature one-on-one hands-on activities followed by performances that develop listening skills with a high degree of audience participation.

Baby Got Bach has been praised in the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, New York Magazine, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and New York Family Magazine. Baby Got Bach shows feature Orli Shaham as host and pianist, along with a rotating roster of world-class musicians. Guest Artists include the violinists Gil Shaham and Adele Anthony, Sō Percussion, Escher String Quartet, WindSync, Ensemble ACJW, and members of the prestigious 92nd Street Y School of Music faculty. Baby Got Bach has been presented at 92Y, WQXR's The Greene Space, and Le Poisson Rouge in New York City, at Princeton University in New Jersey, the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, and the Centene Center in St. Louis.

With a keen interest in developing interactive repertoire for children, Baby Got Bach regularly commissions new works. Recent commissions include "Sneaky March" by Steven Mackey, "The Curious Engine" by Beata Moon, and "City Sounds" by Bruce Adolphe.
